Kay Halcomb Geiser 88 of Enid, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2025, after a 28-year struggle with heart disease. Kay was born to Silven and Amanda Ledbetter on September 27, 1936, in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She lived in the rural Butner area attending school there until she moved to Pond Creek where she finished high school and met her first husband, Maurice Halcomb.
Maurice and Kay married after her graduation and moved to the family farm southwest of Pond Creek where they farmed and raised their three boys, Mark, Martin, and Miles.
Kay ran the household and kept her four men fed, clothed, and pointed in the right directions. Maurice also worked at the Pond Creek Post Office for almost ten years while their children were little so Kay had her hands full. The boys enjoyed country living exploring and playing outdoors with the neighbor kids and Kay often washed the boys with the garden hose before she would allow them inside the house.
When asked about her occupation in her later years, she would laugh and answer homemaker or housewife humbly downplaying the significance of her contribution and difficulty of this task. Always positive, forgiving, determined and steadfast in her faith in God she was the glue that held everything together.
As farmers Maurice and Kay faced blizzards, floods, hail, and crop failures. They also endured the hardship of losing their son Mark at an early age. Later Kay faced losing her husband Maurice to a brave fight with cancer.
She married her second husband Neil Geiser in 1985. They met in the cancer ward and shared a similar loss. They cared for each other, traveled, and enjoyed their golden years until Neil left to be with his children as his health declined.
Late in life Kay proudly participated in the farming operation taking classes to educate herself. Always a good steward of the things entrusted to her, she pursued conservation work to improve the farms and raised crop yields significantly. She was quite successful in managing the farms and gave God all the credit.
Kay’s life reflected her faith in God through actions and not just words. She always encouraged and supported everyone she knew and never gave up on anyone.
Kay was the last surviving member of her immediate family predeceased by her parents, sisters Jean Slape, Peggy Burgin and Glenda Whitaker and brother Gary Don Ledbetter.
Surviving Kay are her son Martin, grandsons Shaon and Mark, great grand-daughters Shauntel and Justice, her son Miles, grandson Mason, granddaughter McKensie and great-grandson Jack.
