Janet Elizabeth Marcone

November 6, 1939 — February 13, 2026

Medford, OK

Janet Elizabeth Edwards came into this world on November 6, 1939, at The J. Crozier Home for Incurables and Homeopathic Hospital in Chester, Pa to Richard and Mary Edwards. The second of four girls, she was raised by her mother with the help of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Percival Riley, with whom they lived. She was a sickly child, every time a virus was going around, she was shipped off to her great-grandparent's farm in Dover, DE (which is now a part of Dover Air Force Base) where she developed a love for fresh vegetables and farm life.

Jani-Liz, a nickname her sisters gave her, was a true tom-boy who terrorized her sisters and even ran away to see the gypsies. Raised Catholic, she attended Notre Dame High School for Girls in Morton, Pa, where she graduated in 1958. In 1960 Jani-Liz married Frank J. Marcone and had three children: Frank, Andrew, and Bonnie. A stay-at-home mom, those years were marked with ski trips to Vermont, weekends on the boat, and summers in Cape May, NJ.

Unfortunately, the good times didn't last, and they were separated in 1969 before divorcing in 1975. But it was during that time when a good friend of hers told her that she could have a personal relationship with Jesus, which Janet had never heard before. Desiring to learn more, she began to attend Bible studies and, after moving to West Chester, was a part of The Body of Christ meeting at the Daylesford Abbey. Before long she outgrew the church and went on to discover a deeper relationship with her Lord and Savior. Times were tough, but God is faithful and true, and He was by her side every step of the way.

When her mother went to Florida to take care of her mother (Mom-mom Riley) she had a stroke, so Janet ended up caring for both Grand-mom and Mom-mom. She would get up at 4 o'clock and clean offices so she could be back in time to care for them. After Mom-mom passed she continued caring for Grand-mom and working in a health food store until Grand-mom's passing.

Janet's one joy in life were her grandchildren, all seven of them, who took great pleasure in spending time with their Dearma. Family was important to Dearma, and she spent time with her sisters and their families, prayed for them faithfully and always called her children on their birthdays to sing happy birthday to them. And she never forgot a birthday; you could guarantee there would be a card in the mail on your birthday.

In September of 2011 Dearma moved to Oklahoma to live with her daughter and son-in-law, and after a few months in Shawnee, she moved to Medford in 2012. It didn't take long before she made a friend who invited her to church and soon, she was attending the First Christian Church, where she quickly became a part of the prayer warriors. Sunday school was a favorite of hers and she said that she was there to remind everyone of the Old Testament, which she believed to be missing from the Christian church universal.

Active at the senior's, she enjoyed dominoes and exercising and even enjoyed a game of ping pong, until she dove for the ball and ended up on the floor, and thus ending her days of walking without a cane. Dearma was quite proud of the fact that she was on no prescription drugs and was very healthy up until she wasn't. They say that when the Lord calls His people home that He does it quickly, and Dearma was one of His people. She encouraged everyone she met, including the doctors and nurses at the hospital, and will be greatly missed by all.

Janet was preceded in death by her mother Mary, sister and brother-in-law Dolores and Joe Bradley, brother-in-law David Ruane, and son-in-law Radar Wills. She leaves behind son and daughter-in-law Frank and Barbara Marcone, of West Chester, PA; son Andy Marcone, of Coatesville, PA; daughter Bonnie Wills of the home; grand-children Melanie Interdonado and Tegan Newlin, Kristen Harkin (Amanda) and Lindsey Gambardella (Nicholas), Stephen and Abigail Wills and Joey Marcone, as well as two great-grandchildren and one on the way.
