Please join us in celebrating the life of Hubert “Hoot” Mulkey on Thursday March 16th at 2:00 pm at Lamont United Methodist Church officiated by Davidson Fields. Interment will follow in Lamont Cemetery. Visitation for Hoot will be at Wilson Funeral Home in Pond Creek starting at 9:00 am Wednesday morning.
Hoot was born in Enid, Oklahoma to Hubert and Nettie Mulkey on October 11th, 1939. He attended Rich Valley School and eventually graduated from Lamont High School in 1959. He then went on to attend Northern Oklahoma Junior College before joining the Navy in 1961. He served on the Destroyer the USS Waldron as a Radio Technician and Sonar Operator until he was discharged as a 2nd Class Petty Officer in 1964. After his discharge he worked for Western Electric until his retirement in 1999.
Hoot married Jessie Doreen Pelton in 1965 and had 2 children. Allen (1965) and Kimberly (1968). He married Linda Carroll in 1977. At that time 3 step daughters came into his life. Melanie, Tiffany and Crystol.
Hoot was preceded in death by his parents Hubert Mulkey in 1997, Nettie Bohnsack in 2010 and his wife Linda Mulkey in 2009.
Hoot loved his country, loved his church, loved his community and especially loved the men and women who have served our country. He would go out of his way to help any veteran he met.
He worked tirelessly for his church and especially for the American Legion. He loved sports and was an avid skier, fisherman and especially a bowler. He was incredibly proud of bowling a perfect 300 game during league play.
He is survived by his son Allen Mulkey of Edmond, Oklahoma, Daughter Kimberly Donnell of Navarre, Florida, stepdaughters Melonie Miller of OKC, Tiffany Carroll of Shreveport, Louisiana and Crystol King of Hinton, Oklahoma. He is also survived by one brother Merlin Mulkey of Muskogee.
