Clarice Virginia (Nelson) Cogswell was born March 7, 1928, in Effingham, Illinois and joined the love of her life, Harry Cogswell in the afterlife on June 30, 2023, surrounded by family in Wakita. Clarice was preceded in death by Harry, son Micheal, sisters Lucy Hamman and Juanita Kralman, brothers Howard, Everett, Wayne, Norman, and Donald and grandson Andrew Woods.
Clarice spent her 95 years being a wife, mother, homemaker, and custodian of Pond Creek First Christian Church. She was an active member and leader of the Sunshine Center and enjoyed the time she shared with friends before aging herself. Clarice often cared for and enjoyed the company of infirm elderly in the community. Clarice took great pleasure in sewing and quilting, especially creating personalized and monogrammed blankets for her many grandchildren. She was dedicated to her family and was always eager to attend the Nelson family reunions to rekindle memories with her many brothers and sisters. Clarice had an unwavering faith in God and could always be found in the front row of First Christian church singing hymns on Sundays.
Clarice is survived by her sister Peggy Meier, four children, Bruce, Mickey, Jason and Kandy; grandchildren Michelle Martin and Micheal Mark Cogswell, Brad and Alysa Cogswell, Nathaniel Woods, Samantha Greene, Denise Downard and Quentin Cogswell; great-grandchildren August Martin, Ashton Fee, and Alexys Martin, Paige and Tanner Cogswell, Taylyn Cogswell Oster, Izayah, Jaelynn, and Jordyn Hughley; great-great-grandchildren Jonah Fee and Ellis Cogswell.
Memorial service for Clarice Cogswell will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 at Pond Creek First Christian Church. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Circle of Love and Wakita Community Health Center.
